Finished Memory Boxes

Here are some finished memory boxes.  Everybody was really pleased with their creations and the boxes can be hung on the wall to create a permanent 3D display.

Memory Box Workshop

We held a successful Memory Box Workshop at St Aidan's on 5th March.  It was well attended and whilst some people came along to make boxes, others were happy to sit and reminisce.  People who had never met before were sharing stories and memories and it was lovely to hear so many tales of life 'back then'.

Below are some pictures of the workshop, including some of the unfinished boxes.  Pictures of the finished items will follow.  We hope to hold another Memory Box Workshop in the next few months.

Interview Snippets - Erica

On 28th February, we interviewed Erica Fidment, a lady who has lived in the area since she was a child and is or has been involved in so many projects.  She's a real part of local life and was able to offer lots of brilliant memories and stories.  Here are a few of them:

When asked what her earliest memories were:

Then she was asked about a story she had told previously to Nicola, who was interviewing her, relating to her granddad:

Erica talked about what Sundays were like and the week's routine:

Her favourite foods (very topical at the moment!):

And what she remembered about the war, including a funny story about firewatching:

March events

There are two Manor Memories events coming up in March.

The first is a Memory Box Workshop on Tuesday 5th March at 2pm.  Using shadow box frames we will be making memory boxes containing items of sentimental value.

And on Friday 22nd March at 1.30pm there will be a Beginners Familiarisation Session at Sheffield Archives on Shoreham Street.  This will give us an idea of how to use the archives and we will get to see some original documents.

Places on each event are limited so please sign up as soon as possible by contacting Nicola Smith on 0114 2780707 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
