Manor Church and Community Project

Founded in 2013 as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), The Manor Church and Community Project is an exciting local church initiative and Local Ecumenical partnership, supported by the Anglican, Methodist and United Reformed Churches.

Our vision is to:

· Promote social inclusion for the public benefit of Sheffield Manor residents by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society.

· Provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship, or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions in life.

·    Be a Christian presence within the Manor and Castle Ward.

The focus of the work is to encourage various activities held at St. Swithun’s and the newly refurbished Temple Park Centre.

In 2014, Simon Loveitt, a Church Related Community Work Minister with the United Reformed Church joined the project, leading the work ‘on the ground’ until 2022 when he left to take up a new post in another part of the country. Read his final report summarising the work completed so far.

The project is now in its second phase and secured funding for a Community Cohesion and Outreach Worker. Lisa Wigfield took up the post in January 2023. More details of the project can be found on the Temple Park Centre website.
